The Continental ContiSportContact 5 is a summer tyre which Conti describe as ultra-high-performance. It focuses on enhancing both dry and wet braking distances and utilises Conti’s Black Chili compound which is a braking and cornering aid. The asymmetric tread has large outer blocks to strengthen cornering. The tread innovation is a front-to-back groove system which has a mini block inner edge to aid wet braking and road clearance through the tread.

There are ContiSeal versions which contain a viscous layer which seals punctures from objects up to 5 mm. SSR versions have a sidewall reinforcement which protects the tyre and allows flexibility to travel for a short distance (under 80 km) and at a slowed speed. The ContiSportContact 5 was the precursor to the SportContact 6 and is also a summer tyre. Continental’s other max-performance summer tyre. The Conti Sports that came with my car from the factory are truly excellent. They look great, provide great grip and steering feel, while also maintaining a light and responsive feel. They let you cruise over puddles even at high speeds (while reducing the risk of aquaplaning) and to do this, they provide excellent steering feel even in the worst (wet) conditions. Overall, they are the best tyres!
