225/45 R17 tyres are standard on the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes C-Class, including staggered wheel sets. The breakdown of the numbers is: 225 being the width in millimetres, and 45 being the sidewall as an aspect ratio (45% of 225 = 101mm). R17 indicates the construction is radial with a 17-inch diameter rim, giving an overall diameter of 634mm.
