The Firestone TZ300 is a summer touring tyre designed primarily for controlling driving on wet road surfaces with reduced rolling resistance. The TZ300 uses a silica-based tyre compound to enhance wet surface grip and decrease energy loss while rolling. Three wide grooves on the circumference of the tyre channel water out of the tread contact patch. Fine slits within the tread blocks create additional gripping edges. The block layout also helps reduce the noise created as the tyre contacts the road.
The TZ300 was subsequently replaced by the Roadhawk in Firestone's summer passenger car tyre range. The Roadhawk is designed for use in temperatures greater than 7 degrees and has a tread and tyre compound designed for use on both wet and dry road surfaces in the warmer months. Firestone TZ300 tyres are available at Tyres.co.uk.
