205/65 R17 is a taller size used for some larger cars and light vans. It has large sidewalls to protect the wheels against rough roads. 205 is the width of the tyre in mm. The 65 is the sidewall height in mm as a percentage of the width, so 65% of 205mm is 133mm. R17 indicates a radial tyre that has a 17-inch rim. The overall diameter is 698mm.
