Rolling resistance has a direct impact on fuel consumption. A tyre's rolling resistance score ranges from A to E.
A tyre's wet grip capacity is expressed in Grades from A to E. The difference in braking distances between each grade is roughly 3m - an average car length.
The exterior noise grade of a tyre is expressed in decibels and accompanied by an external rolling noise rating - ranging from A (least exterior noise) to C (highest level of noise).
These tyres have been specifically designed for fitment and use on cars.
These tyres are designed with a stronger sidewall, making them capable of handling more weight than your average tyre. Typically, they are classified by the letters 'XL' on the sidewall.
Vredestein designed the Ultrac as a premium summer tyre that focuses on wet braking and drying handling. This tyre removes the worry about performance issues when the ambient temperature exceeds 7 degrees Celsius. The Ultrac features an asymmetric tread pattern that has a stiff outer shoulder that enhances steering in bends. The inner tread contains grooves and slits that draw water away from the contact patch. The tyre also contains a silica based rubber that uses a multifunctional polymer, which helps sustain grip in wet and dry riding conditions.
According to Vredestein, the Ultrac improves dry handling and wet braking by 15% and 10%, respectively when compared to its predecessor, the Ultrac Satin. The fuel efficiency, wet grip, and exterior noise caused by the Ultrac in EU label ratings, depending on the tyre size, are letter grades of C, A, and either 69 dB or 72 dB, respectively. Some sizes of the Ultrac also contain a rim-protection strip, which is an outer edge of raised rubber that makes contact with the kerb first, protecting the wheel. Tyres.co.uk sells all sizes of the Vredestein Ultrac.
