The Pirelli Scorpion Zero is an advanced summer SUV tyre emphasising on-road steering precision. The asymmetric tread helps to provide control at the edge of the tyre throughout the tread. The Scorpion Zero’s design contains vertical and horizontal grooves to move water from the contact patch, as well as a tread design that minimises block movement to help with the control of road noise and vibration.

Pirelli Scorpion Zeros marked with N0 on the sidewall are approved by Porsche and are made specifically for Porsche; those without the mark most likely just fit Porsche’s wheel requirements. Scorpion Zeros with the BMW star mark are made to BMW’s requirements, and if a vehicle has either mark, then that part of the vehicle is in the approved manufacturer specification. These are useful for smoothing out bumps on roads in our area that are in bad condition. I pity those that have to use low-profile tyres. To deal with potholes and avoid them, a strong sidewall is essential.

A few days after I had the tyres fitted, there was a cold snap with 20cm of snow and several days of ice. I was very impressed with the performance of these tyres on my Volvo XC90, and they have renewed my confidence in it as a winter vehicle, especially after the poor performance of the Volvo recommended Continentals that are more suitable for summer and wet conditions. I wonder if these tyres will last the 40,000 miles another reviewer stated, as opposed to the usual 17,000 miles with the Continentals. I am very happy I made the switch.

I have not been able to test these tyres in icy and snowy conditions, however, they will be reliable in the rain when the road gets slippery.

So far, they have been excellent. Took the car and caravan through all sorts of weather and road conditions down to Southern Spain. Will be getting two more when we need them. You can't take a chance with tyres; if you buy cheaply you will get a cheap quality tyre. Is it worth the risk or would peace of mind be better?

My vehicle came with front Toyo tyres which lasted 60,000 miles, so that was decent. However, I did not feel safe driving on wet roads, as it always felt like I was sliding. Since I changed to Pirelli's, I have never had any problems, and these are great tyres.

Yes, the tyres do have excellent grip, but since they are quite soft, they wear out fairly quickly, still I do drive pretty hard, plus my car is nearly 400 bhp.
