The tread uses a wide, stable contact patch with large outer shoulder blocks to maximise cornering support, helping the car feel precise under load. An asymmetric pattern balances outright dry traction with controlled wet performance, while the main grooves help move water away to reduce the risk of aquaplaning in light rain. As with any semi-slick style tyre, braking and grip can drop noticeably in cold temperatures or standing water.

A key difference with the Pilot Sport Cup 2 Connect is its compatibility with Michelin Track Connect (sensors and app, typically sold separately). This system helps track drivers monitor pressures and temperatures more accurately, making it easier to dial-in handling and manage wear over repeated laps.
