The Michelin Pilot Sport 2 is a max-performance summer tyre that prioritises steering control on dry roads. Its asymmetric tread relies on different rubber compounds for outer and inner tread roles. For dry and wet grip, respectively, Michelin’s Bi-Compound technology employs hybrid elastomer and silica compounds. Additionally, FAZ technology uses aramid and nylon cords to wrap 0 degree cords around the tyre casing to retain its shape as its speed increases.

Some variations of the Pilot Sport 2 tyre display sidewall markings as Porsche N0 or BMW star marks. These tyres meet the specifications for these manufacturers and should be matched when replacing an original tyre. Additionally, some sizes use Michelin’s ZP runflat construction which supports the tyre and the vehicle momentarily after a loss of tyre pressure. These tyres provide great performance on my vehicle. They offer excellent traction in both dry and wet conditions. The mileage is great as well. While I usually get between 10,000 and 12,000 miles from my rear tyres with other top-end brands recommended for Porsches, I have been able to get 16,000 miles from the Michelins.

The decrease in tyre noise is most noticeable. This is a direct model-to-model replacement, so I expected them to be pretty much the same, but the new tyres have really made a difference. I've been a bit careful with the car and the tyres so the grip in dry conditions is probably about the same. However, it seems that in wet conditions the grip is greater and the back end feels more stable than it did with the old ones.
