The Continental Sport Contact 5 is a premium summer tyre. The BlackChili compound used provides impressive braking and cornering control. The Sport Contact 5 uses an asymmetric tread design. Larger tread blocks are placed on the outer edge for cornering and braking support. Centre tread blocks stiffen at high speeds and a steady line is maintained by the centre ribs. The 3D grooves remove water from the contact patch.

The Sport Contact 5’s successor is the SportContact 6. The SportContact 6 also comes in ContiSeal and SSR constructions. ContiSeal tyres have a sealing layer beneath the tread which seals punctures up to 5mm. SSR (Self Supporting Runflat) tyres are constructed with reinforced sidewalls that support the vehicle after a loss of air pressure. I feel major improvements in grip and handling in all conditions vs my last set. With my 200bhp estate, it is essential that tyres keep up with the performance and these do the job. Would recommend.

I've had some experience with poor quality tyres and I can say, they handle better, are quieter than my previous worn-out tyres, and they handle better too. With the way the UK weather is, I would recommend these tyres to anyone. They perform excellently in the rain.

I replaced the front tyres, which were Continental Sport Contact 3, with Sport Contact 5 (19" 235/40). The car now drives a lot better, steering feels much more responsive, and the grip is definitely better.
