How much fuel the tyre uses as it rolls. Graded A to E, where A is the most efficient and E the least.
How well the tyre stops in the wet. Graded A to E, where A is the shortest stopping distance. Each grade is worth roughly 3 metres, about a car length.
How loud the tyre is from outside the car, measured in decibels. Graded A to C, where A is the quietest.
Designed for cars, rather than vans, 4x4s or commercial vehicles.
Built to handle both summer and winter conditions, so the same tyres can stay on all year instead of being swapped twice.
Designed for temperatures below 7°C. Summer tyre rubber hardens in the cold and loses grip, while a winter compound stays soft and holds the road in cold, wet and snowy conditions.
385/65 R22 is a large size for special equipment and heavy commercial vehicles. This size is often used in a mix of applications from road use to transporting heavy loads. There are three numbers to consider. The first number is the width of the tyre in mm which in this case is 385. The second number is the sidewall height as a percentage of the width, giving us 65% of 385mm which is 250mm. R22 means a radial tyre that fits on a 22-inch rim. This provides the tyre with an overall diameter of 1059mm. We have 385/65 R22 on offer at Tyres.co.uk.
