The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 DT1 is a summer tyre with ultra-high performance that features a steering response of the DT1 original equipment version. It uses asymmetric pattern along with an aramid and nylon belt. The belt is referred to as Dynamic Response Technology by Michelin. Bi-Compound technology allows the outer side to be a hybrid elastomer dry-road cornering compound, while the inner side has a combination of functional elastomers and silica that have front to back water-clearing grooves.

DT1 is the sidewall designation of this version’s vehicle-specific tuning. Matching this tyre will keep the vehicle’s intended specification where it is already fitted. Great tyre. While this size is pretty expensive. Most other alternatives are about the same price. Offers excellent grip and steering is very precise. The performance has its costs. They do not have a long life span.

Handles pouring rain particularly well on the motorway, and feels even steadier and more secure with the bigger size (now up from 205). It also looks really nice and is one of the better looking tyres. In dry conditions, the performance is also great, and it is a lot quieter and more comfortable than the Dunlops that were on the car originally.

Compared to my previous Pirelli's that struggled with traction, these tyres perform really well from standstill. They really handle well in both the dry and wet conditions too.

An incredibly overhyped tyre. In terms of grip, old Pilot Sports are better, and that's regardless of season or temperature. In fact, they're downright awful above 7 degrees. They went on my AWD Mk7.5 Golf R estate and only improved the comfort mildly, but I switched to Conti Sport Contact 7. I had a Mk8 Fiesta ST that these also went on and they ruined the experience completely, but there were limited options being Pilot 4S, Conti Sport 7 and Pirelli PZ5. It's a budget option and nothing like a 4S. You're still better off spending the money on Michelin's new gen '5' model.
