Product description & features

The Michelin Pilot Sport 3 is a summer performance tyre that balances wet-weather performance and tread-life. It uses an asymmetric tread along with Michelin Anti Surf System that helps clear standing water at speed. The Anti Surf System shapes the grooves and channels in the tread to quickly divert water away from the tyre tread in case of heavy rainfall. It features a rubber compound called Green Power Compound that helps enhance wet grip and lowers rolling resistance.

The next generation of the Pilot Sport tyre range is the Pilot Sport 4. The self-supporting tyre sidewalls in the ZP runflat versions are designed to carry the vehicle in case of a tyre puncture or loss of pressure. Here at Tyres.co.uk, we readily stock the runflat ZP versions of Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres.

Tyre review for Michelin Pilot Sport 3 195/50R15 82V
When I purchased my Fiesta, it came with Continental Sport Contact tyres and I've always replaced them with these because they are amazing, if only a bit of a downside - they wear out a little quicker than I'd like. The only tyre rating better than these are the Michelin ones, and so I wanted to try them this time. I went for the v3 over the v4 that's newer, but I've had both old and new Continentals and I like the reliability. These Michelin ones look alright, but I feel like the wet grip could be better than the Continentals. They perform well in dry conditions but I feel like I've lost traction in some areas that I never did before. Ultimately, the wear will be the deciding factor.

I took my mk5 Fiesta to a track day with these tyres. Even though the conditions were wet, the car was really pushed and remained stable. Very little tyre wear. Impressive!

Sidewalls are stiffer than on the cheaper tyres, therefore with them on the front you get more precise steering, and a bit less body roll. Even though they are more robust, the ride remains smooth, which could be attributed to better damping.

Tyre review for Michelin Pilot Sport 3 195/50R15 82V
It's still a bit early in regards to judgement because the tyres are still settling in. That said, I've noticed up to now improved grip across all conditions. I look forward to seeing the full performance when they've been properly bedded in.

Just like I expected, the grip has greatly increased in the wet and the car feels a lot more stable.
