Designed for cars, rather than vans, 4x4s or commercial vehicles.
Designed for temperatures below 7°C. Summer tyre rubber hardens in the cold and loses grip, while a winter compound stays soft and holds the road in cold, wet and snowy conditions.
The Goodyear UltraGrip 9 passenger car winter tyres have been designed specifically to deal with snow and ice. Their use of a clever directional tread design helps to evacuate water and slush ice build up from the centre of the tyre to the edges. Goodyear's Winter Grip Technology also helps avoid the build up of ice and slush on the tread by flexibly maintaining a resin rich compound at lower temperatures. The UltraGrip 9 also features 3D-BIS Technology. The 3D-BIS Technology helps give the tread extra biting edges by incorporating fine slits in the interlocking blocks which freeze when the tyres are not in use.
The UltraGrip 9 is designed to avoid aquaplaning with its use of Hydrodynamic Grooves. The UltraGrip 9 has replaced the UltraGrip 8 in the Goodyear range and also has the M+S designation and 3PMSF mark which indicates the tyre meets the requirements for a snow severe tyre. You can purchase the Goodyear UltraGrip 9 range from Tyres.co.uk.
