The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 uses an asymmetric tread design to maximise both responsiveness and braking. The tread is split into distinct block layouts. Goodyear has a special name for their braking tech; they call it ActiveBraking Technology. This design creates an edge of braking tread to maximise the surface area of rubber in contact with the road during braking. Coupled with this tech is Power Cushion Technology, which adds stiffness and improves the connection for steering response.

The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 is the new and improved version of the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3. The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 SUV also has the same asymmetric tread layout, but uses a different casing designed to hold the greater weights of SUVs and crossovers. The rims are well protected and do a good job considering how low profile they are.

The car does feel a little different with the new tyres, but I'm not sure how. They seem to steer a bit more quickly, but it's not as stable. And if I'm being honest, I'm not a huge fan of the look of the tyres. My old Continental tyres had a flatter side profile which I preferred.

They provide great traction on dry surfaces and increase your confidence to drive, and they also do great in cold as well as rainy conditions. Although I have not tried Goodyears before, since I have typically gone for Continentals or Michelins, these have really surprised me. I still have to determine how durable they are since I have only had them for about 5000 miles.
