Dunlop's SP WinterSport 5 is a passenger car tyre designed for snow and slush adhesion at low temperatures. Its tread design is more blocky than the SP Winter Sport 4D's which increases the number of snow biting edges. Opening slits run through the blocks to grip snow and transport it to the centre of the tread where the slush is managed by deep rimmed grooves that run the length of the tread. Dunlop's lightweight design further improves efficiency by lowering rolling resistance.

The SP Winter Sport 4D is the direct predecessor of the SP Winter Sport 5 and will be replaced by the SP Winter Sport 5 in Dunlop's winter collection. The SP Winter Sport 5 also carries the 3PMSF and M+S designation on the side of the tyre. Dunlop also produces a variant for SUV fitments called the Winter Sport 5 SUV.
