The ContiSportContact 3 from Continental uses a tread pattern with stiff centre ribs to ensure fast brake response. The asymmetric tread pattern uses large outer blocks to keep the outer tread shape when cornering. The outer tread blocks also keep the shape of the tread in contact with the road. With the outer blocks maintaining contact with the road, but the inner blocks having the ability to flex, Continental’s tread compound keeps the shape of the blocks but allows the tread to follow the road surface. The ContiSportContact 3 uses a tread pattern with lateral grooves that evacuate water to the outer edges of the tread to improve contact with the road.
Some ContiSportContact 3’s have the sidewall marking AO, meaning they received the approval of Audi. Others have the sidewall marking MO, meaning they were manufactured to the specifications of Mercedes-Benz. The ContiSportContact 3 was also the first in the line of performance tyres from Continental and was later replaced by the ContiSportContact 5. Tyres.co.uk sells the ContiSportContact 3.
