Product description & features

The Continental Premium Contact 2 summer tyre has short wet and dry braking distances thanks to its asymmetric tread pattern. These tyres feature Continental's 3D-Groove technology. Unlike standard grooves, the 3D-Groove technology uses a series of interlocking walls to brace the tread blocks. With an asymmetric design, the Bionic Contour groove shape changes under braking, which helps drive water out of the grooves and reduces aquaplaning.

The SSR version has the same inner construction as the Premium Contact 2, but uses Continental's self-supporting runflat technology. This technology is designed for vehicles equipped with a tyre-pressure monitoring system, after losing tyre pressure the sidewalls will support the weight of the vehicle. Continental claims that with a puncture the tyres can be run for 50 miles at a maximum speed of 50 miles per hour. At Tyres.co.uk, we offer the SSR version of the Continental Premium Contact 2.

Although they are not as durable, they have a better experience than their predecessors, the P6000.

Tyre review for Continental Premium Contact 2 185/50R16 81T
Im not someone who drives aggressively so I cannot record how these tyres do under extreme conditions. However, they do grip well in wet as well as dry conditions. The front set typically lasts me around 30,000 miles and the rear set about 38,000. They are more expensive than the budget options, but in my opinion, it is better to spend the money on something that I can rely on rather than risk it with the budget options that are at that price point for 30,000 miles. Overall, I am very happy with the tyres as well as the service I got from Tyres.co.uk and their partner garage.

I've only had Michelin and Continental tyres, and they appear to perform about the same with regards to noise and longevity.

Tyre review for Continental Premium Contact 2 185/50R16 81T
The Contis are definitely an improvement over those budget, unknown tyres. Contis do seem a bit narrow for a 195 and have quite soft sidewalls. While I find grip in wet conditions to be quite good, dry grip isn't really up to par with what I would expect from a premium brand. Time will tell how they wear.

I'm very happy with these tyres. They grip the road very well. I feel much more confident driving in wet, icy, and snowy conditions. I would definitely buy these tyres again. They also came quickly and as expected.

Mercedes includes these as standard equipment so there's no doubt about choosing them. Purchased for my C220 CDi and they give good grip on the road in all conditions.
