Tyre review for Avon WV7 Snow 195/55R15 85H
I believe these tyres are good for the winters and rain in the UK. They drive well in light snow, and feel safe driving on the motorways during heavy rain. However, during the Christmas holidays, in a snowy -15 degrees Celsius country, the performance was not as good as the all-season tyres on my 5 year old van, on the same roads. In fresh snow on old roads, you have to drive more carefully because they can lose grip. On roads that are icy and slushy, I felt more confident with them. At -20 degrees Celsius, I did not feel safe with these tyres, and I could compare that feeling to a cow on ice. After driving 5,000 miles, I can see that the front tyres are more worn than the back ones. Above 12 degrees Celsius they lose grip, but they are ideal for temperatures from -5 to 10 degrees Celsius. A plus side is that the tyres are not as noisy as my new Vredestein summer tyres which is a positive. If you want to buy British, buy these. If you are going on a holiday, get Michelin all-season tyres.
