The 305/45 R22 denotes large tyres used on 4x4s and pickups with 22-inch wheels. 305 means 305mm width. 45 means the sidewall is 45% of 305mm which is 137mm. R22 means the radial tyre is mounted on a 22-inch rim. The sidewall (137mm) gives the 4x4 cushioning on rough ground and the tyre has a diameter of 833mm. Tyres.co.uk sells them. The 21-inch equivalent of 305/45 R22 is 295/50 R21. It has a diameter of 828.4mm which is 0.59% smaller than 833mm and is therefore within the acceptable limit. However, clearance and approved sizes should be checked in the handbook and by a tyre professional.
