The right tyres for your vehicle will vary. The vehicle registration tool embedded at the top of this page lets you know the right tyre size for your vehicle, with drivers then able to choose based on terrain and climate, their ideal driving experience, and budget.
For advice on the best tyres for your specific vehicle model, you can head over to our Vehicle Brand pages for insight into each manufacturer’s OE (original equipment) and recommended tyre brands. This lets you know which tyre brands manufacture models in line with the design of specific vehicles, supporting optimum handling and performance.
The biggest distinction between different tyre brands is price and the brand name attached to each tyre. Premium tyres, mid-range tyres, and budget tyres, are all made by brands that are connected through development and ownership, with premium tyres made using the more advanced research and the best materials. They often boast optimum handling and performance, and superior fuel efficiency too, with top premium brands including Continental, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Michelin, Goodyear, and Hankook.
Mid-range and budget tyres are safe to drive on but do not support the same level of performance.
Mobile tyre fitting is the service through which new tyres are fitted to your vehicle – crucially, from the comfort of your own home, workplace, or alternative location. Through this service, drivers can order the right replacement tyres and secure local fitting at home or work, all in one transaction.
As part of a mobile tyre fitting service, our fitters carry out wheel balancing and can offer diagnostic support with any ongoing issues. Make sure to identify this when booking, if required.
Provided the mobile fitter has enough space around the outside of the vehicle to remove the damaged or old tyres, and fit new ones, then the location doesn’t matter.
The cost of mobile tyre fitting will vary based on your location and proximity to your closest mobile fitter. They will confirm the price of the service as part of the booking, so that you pay for everything upfront online – no added costs on fitment day.
Typically, mobile fitting requires a lead time of 24-48 hours to ensure that the tyres you order can be dispatched and delivered to your mobile fitter. This ensures that they have all the tools required to carry out a full fitting, and do not need to make last minute changes to your scheduled service.
A time slot will be sent to you in advance of your scheduled tyre fitting service. Without the need to take time off to attend a fixed appointment at a local garage, drivers value the flexibility of mobile fitting and are kept informed of the whereabouts of their fitter on the day of their appointment.
The timeline for mobile fitting will vary – however, we tend to say that drivers should allow around 30 minutes per tyre. This ensures that not only is the tyre fitted safely, but that the fitter has time to ensure the wheel is well balanced and aligned. NOTE: This means that if multiple tyres are being changed as part of one booking, this can take upwards of 2 hours.
All mobile fitting services are scheduled as part of your online order, meaning that everything is paid for in advance of the fitment. When you enter your vehicle registration online, you will select the right tyres, choose a date for your mobile fitting service, and pay for it all in one go.
There is no need to have cash available on the day.
Tyre pressure varies depending on the weight of the vehicle, the terrain you are driving on, and the passenger load. Details about the correct and optimum pressure for your specific vehicle and passenger load can be found on the inside of the driver door.
All mobile fitters have tyre pressure gauges with them, so they can read the pressure and inflate or deflate tyres are required – keeping drivers safe on the road.
You don’t necessarily need to have new car tyres in order to pass an MOT in the UK. However, you do need to make sure that your tyres have sufficient tyre tread (at least 1.6mm around the full circumference of the tyre), that the tyre pressure is correct, that tyres are the right size, and that your tyres are free from damage.
You can learn more about tyre maintenance and MOT requirements, as well as the annual UK car service, in our Knowledge Hub.
