The Yokohama BluEarth-A AE50 tyre uses Yokohama’s Nano Blend Compound and design ideas from the AE40 and AE51 tyres as well as from the BluEarth GP family to create a summer touring tyre with low rolling resistance and improved wet performance. While Yokohama’s nano blend compound uses a blend of silica and orange oil to reduce rolling resistance, the asymmetrical design of the AE50 separates the inner and outer sides of the tread. From inner to outer, the design features: a water evacuation system, cornering support tread blocks, and a f irm tread band designed to give consistent steering performance on dry surfaces.

As part of Yokohama's BluEarth line, the AE50 replaced the C.drive2 and the now discontinued touring tyre section of the C.drive line. Yokohama's AE51 now takes the place of the AE50. Tyres.co.uk sells Yokohama's BluEarth-A AE50.

Excellent tyres. They are quieter than most and have great durability - not overly soft like other low-noise alternatives. Arguably not as responsive as Michelin Sports on some cars, but for the price, they are incredible.

These tyres are excellent. They provide great comfort, low noise, and give very good grip on wet and dry conditions. I am fortunate to have a vehicle testing facility available to me, and every time I get new tyres, I rigorously test them. These tyres easily exceeded the performance of the Avon ZZ5's that were recommended.

It seems they are doing okay. It is difficult to evaluate the tyres on a Volvo V70 because the ride and handling have never been especially good.

Overall, they seem to perform quite well. Some earlier reviews said they had difficulty with wet grip, but I've since driven them in a fair amount of rain and that hasn't been an issue. They may slip a little on hard acceleration when the ESP takes control, but it's not something you notice because during hard braking or cornering, they seem to grip really well. The reinforcement provides a bit of stability and predictability which adds a little confidence to my driving. They seem to be wearing on well and are fairly quiet, and my fuel consumption seems acceptable, just keep them inflated.

Snowy weather isn't their strong point. They handle both the wet and the dry very well but a little more grip would improve performance, because wheel spin is common.
