Wet braking and resistance to aquaplaning are the main concerns with the Uniroyal RainSport 5. Uniroyal has built this tyre with a directional tread featuring a V shape. Water is channeled by this design from the centre to the outer edge of the tyre. Inside the grooves of the tread, the stall of flow of water and turbulence is handled by the finish of Shark Skin Technology. Edge sipes are integrated in the tread and aid in water removal and provide grip while braking and turning.

The RainSport 5 has replaced the 3 and has an anticipated 15% increase in lifespan. There are also versions which can carry a heavier load; these are the RainSport 5 XL, which have reinforced sidewalls. These tyres should only be used when the temperature is higher than approximately 7 degrees Celsius. Tyres.co.uk also has XL versions.

I used to fit Michelin PS5 tyres all around, but found them a bit too stiff for everyday driving esp over potholes, although they had amazing grip. I bought these reading reviews expecting them to be as good as the old Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta since they have a similar tread pattern. While I never thought they'd match the PS5, I didn't expect them to be this disappointing. With my car's limited-slip differential, the traction control keeps cutting in, reducing power. These tyres might be fine for most vehicles but definitely not recommended for anything with decent torque. Maybe for comfort and grip I chose poorly, I'm planning to switch them after worn down a bit.
