Product description & features

The Nankang AW-6 is a directional V-pattern all-weather tyre designed for use in wet weather and with good winter traction. The AW-6 carries M+S and 3PMSF designations and features a directional 4-channel layout that removes water from the centre of the tread/stops it from moving to the centre and directs it to the outer edge of the tyre. The tread has an array of 3D micro-dots in the blocks to aid traction in winter and snow, and a flexible silica winter compound rubber to aid in low winter snow traction.

The AW-6 is mud and snow rated and has also met the requirements for the 3PMSF snow grip regulation. The directional tread will have the rotation arrow on the side wall fitted to the correct rotation with the channels facing the intended direction for drainage. Excellent performance in the wet and the dry. I haven't had the chance to test them in the snow yet, but I have used this brand's all-season tyres during 'The Beast from the East' and they were superb.

The performance of this product lived up to my expectations in all types of weather. I still have treads on my Mercedes Vito and the treads still look solid. In the Austrian Alps while they did lose some traction compared to what dedicated winter tyres would provide, it is worth mentioning that my van is only two wheel drive so my experience is very limited. Overall I would say they are a good option if you plan on only having one set of tyres the get the job done and are not poor in terms of fuel consumption on drives. I don't have another set of tyres to compare it to so I can't say how they compare to others, but I would say that the tyres did not hinder my fuel consumption on long drives.

These tyres performed well in rain and shine. I used the vehicle for my regular commuting, not for racing or anything extreme. I have only lasted for about a year and 5-6000 miles which is frustrating because I usually get at least 10,000 miles from a set.

I bought two more to match my existing ones of this brand and type. They deal with wet and icy roads really well. I drive carefully so I don't have any issues in dry conditions. I live in the countryside so I'm usually on difficult secondary roads during bad weather. They are worth it and keep me going.
