History

The history of Milever Tyres is closely associated with the Wanli Group story. Founded in 1988, the Wanli Group – or Wanli Tire Company – is a Chinese organisation that specialises in the development of high-quality tyres for different uses and vehicles.

Prior to being known under the Wanli name, the official name was actually the Guangzhou South China Rubber Tire Company. Radial tyre production within this company began in 1989, with Wanli producing tyres for brands like Firestone in the United States.

Ever since the early 1990s, Wanli Tires and its subsidiary brands Milever, Sunny and Wanli, have all consistently invested in research and innovation, considering the role of technology in the tyre industry both now and in the future.

Milever’s Position on the Tyre Market

Milever is recognised as one of three independent tyre brands under the Wanli Group. It falls under the mid-range category of the market, balancing its diverse range with affordable prices and high levels of functionality.

While not on the same premium level as brands like Michelin, Bridgestone and Pirelli, Milever does offer high value for money and a balance of both quality and endurance especially facing long journeys and when navigating challenging conditions and terrains.

Some other benefits of the Milever tyre brand, aside from its commitment to delivering value and cost-effective tyres, include the comfort and stability enjoyed by drivers, the sports-friendly design of some of its tyres, and the winter performance and off-road traction of others.

Notably, Milever Tyres has developed a few collections and models which are engineered for specific conditions and driving experiences – with these all highly rated by drivers who use them.

Popular Milever Tyre Models and Collections

Milever Tyres is a mid-range brand that offers a compromise between driving comfort, safety, and performance. Headquartered in China, many of the Milever Tyres benefit from exposure to leading research and development within its ownership under the Wanli Group, with innovation at the heart of tread design and patterns.

Wanli Tyres, as a group, sits within the top 50 tires in the world, with its Milever Tyre brand spanning passenger car tyres, light truck tyres and heavy goods tyres. Among the top and most popular models, the Milever MA349 is a high-performance sports tyre with a bridge of traction and acceleration, while the Milever MA346 is run-flat tyre which is purpose built to minimise damage and the risk of punctures when driving on different terrains.

Other notable models include the Milever MU160 and MU050 SUV and 4x4 tyres for off-road driving, and the Milever MP270 which is designed for comfort and a smooth driving experience.

Across the light truck and TBR markets, Milever is similarly prolific – with tyres that boast superior traction and grip, as well as precise handling and strength. Models include the Milever ML150 and the MC557 tyres.

Browsing the Milever Catalogue by Season
While some UK drivers prefer the convenience of a year-round tyre that they can rely in throughout the summer and winter months, others choose the optimised performance of specific tyres that are engineered to navigate warm weather or snow and ice. Browsing the Milever collection is a task that can be made simpler and easier with the integration of seasonal filters.

All-season tyres combine the features of summer and winter tyres, offering year-round safety and comfort to drivers. They are a convenient solution for drivers who want to keep the same tyres on their vehicle all year, with particular attention paid to the rubber construction and the tread pattern of the tyres. The Milever MC545 All Season Versat is one of the most popular year-round tyres, with its very deliberate tread pattern which optimises stability as well as precise handling.

Most summer tyres combine their reinforced build with unique tread patterns that minimise aquaplaning, dispel surface water, and support excellent grip. Summer tyres have to be able to withstand high temperatures while supporting performance, with the Milever MP071 and Milever Harmonic MP270 both reputable summer models. A few other notable summer designs include the Milever MA352 tyres and the MU160 off-road tyres.

Winter tyres combine their rigid tread structure with pliable rubber compounds, ensuring the tyres remain flexible and manageable in challenging conditions. Milever produces several winter tyres, including the Milever MW356 tyres, the MW665 tyres, and the MW255 model.

Choosing the Right Tyres for Your Vehicle

With so many different collections to choose from, Milever spans the practical and adventure-ready tyre market as well as every day, commuting, and high-performance tyres.

While not a premium brand like Continental or Kumho, Milever does benefit from its multi-brand ownership under the Wanli Group name – exposing the brand and its products to leading innovation, research and development. Starting with tyre size, drivers can identify the tyres that best suit their surrounding climate and driving experience, using load index and speed rating to select tyres that are supportive and ideal for handling.
