The Michelin Pilot Sport 2 is a max-performance summer tyre that prioritises steering control on dry roads. Its asymmetric tread relies on different rubber compounds for outer and inner tread roles. For dry and wet grip, respectively, Michelin’s Bi-Compound technology employs hybrid elastomer and silica compounds. Additionally, FAZ technology uses aramid and nylon cords to wrap 0 degree cords around the tyre casing to retain its shape as its speed increases.

Some variations of the Pilot Sport 2 tyre display sidewall markings as Porsche N0 or BMW star marks. These tyres meet the specifications for these manufacturers and should be matched when replacing an original tyre. Additionally, some sizes use Michelin’s ZP runflat construction which supports the tyre and the vehicle momentarily after a loss of tyre pressure. These Michelin Pilot Sport tyres provide great traction in wet and dry conditions. They are also comfortable to drive on even the roughest of terrains in spite of their low profile. I have experienced better steering feedback in comparison to the original Continentals fitted by the manufacturer.

The turn-in is not as sharp as the earlier non-N-rated Goodyear tyres I had. The tyres feel somewhat "light" and bouncy. Too bad Michelin seems to have overlooked this size for the PSS5 or PS4S.

They gain good traction once warm. They take a few miles to get to a good operating temperature. When cold, the grip is a lot worse and can feel a bit slick. They are somewhat soft which causes them to wear out rather quickly.

I have an older car, and options for affordable performance tyres for its small 17" wheels are getting limited. These Pilot Sports are a good match for me and the car, giving me decent grip and responsiveness to help me keep up with younger performance cars, at least for the time being.
