The Michelin CrossClimate 2 is an all-season tyre designed for optimum year-round performance for dry, wet, or snowy braking situations. Featuring a directional V-shaped tread with 3PMSF certification, CrossClimate 2 utilises shoulder channeling to expel water from beneath the tyre, while self-locking snow cutting slits form snow traction edges. Michelin’s innovation, Thermal Adaptive Tread, stays flexible with winter slush to optimise the snow cutting edges.

Launched in 2021, the CrossClimate 2 is the successor to the CrossClimate+. According to Michelin, the new design pattern has been optimised to evacuate 10% more water. Crimped edges on the sidewall of the CrossClimate 2 indicate snow traction which meets the requirements of winter tyre regulations and standards. What ever the weather conditions, they have great grip and are long lasting. I am now retired, but I used to be a technical sales engineer and drove all over the UK. I had several company cars with various tyre brands, but I always chose Michelin when it came to tyre replacements. As a passionate motorcyclist, I can appreciate how important good quality tyres are, considering they are the only thing that connects you to the road.

Given that some tread patterns are more aggressive and thereby tend to be noisier than eco-friendly alternatives, these particular tyres are likely to create more noise. Conversely, their grip on wet and muddy surfaces is superior. Strangely, with warmer weather, my fuel efficiency has dropped from 54mpg during winter to 47mpg during spring. This will most likely be a consideration if you value fuel economy. The purchase price is not the only cost related to the tyres, as they will set you back more in long term fuel costs.
