How much fuel the tyre uses as it rolls. Graded A to E, where A is the most efficient and E the least.
How well the tyre stops in the wet. Graded A to E, where A is the shortest stopping distance. Each grade is worth roughly 3 metres, about a car length.
How loud the tyre is from outside the car, measured in decibels. Graded A to C, where A is the quietest.
Designed for cars, rather than vans, 4x4s or commercial vehicles.
As the name suggests, the Kumho Ecsta PS71 EV is a tyre designed specifically for electric vehicles (EVs), and being a Kumho product, it naturally falls into the high-performance tyre category. A notable feature of this tyre is its asymmetric tread pattern. More EV manufacturers are using an ultra-high-performance (UHP) EV tyre with an asymmetric tread pattern to exploit the instantaneous torque and higher kerb weights of electric cars. The outer edge of the tyre incorporates a stiffer outer edge. It has water dispersing grooves to help displace water during rainfall, along with an outer and inner stiff edge for better directional control for rapid manoeuvres. The tyre has improved tread compound to improve rolling resistance. The inner construction helps the tyre maintain its integrity under the additional loads and stresses of heavier electric vehicles.
The tread pattern emits less noise and improves comfort during driving at higher speeds. The summer design allows it to be used in milder weather conditions (above 7 degrees Celsius). The structure supports the instant torque EVs accumulate during acceleration. The Kumho Ecsta PS71 EV is available at Tyres.co.uk.
