The Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT is a summer tyre designed for high performance with minimal braking distance on both wet and dry roads. Asymmetric tread design combined with a motorsport inspired rubber compound works best with temperatures over 7 degrees Celsius to allow for an even faster drive. It also features an Adaptive Compound, a resin used in Dunlop’s motorsport work, to provide an extra edge in braking grip. The SP SportMaxx RT has Short Braking Blocks positioned at steep angles to allow for the maximum contact patch to be present when the braking force is applied to the tread. The water clearing grooves, along with the large outer blocks of the tread, help perform at high levels during cornering as well.

The Sport Maxx RT 2 is the next step in Dunlop’s summer performance tyre design and is the successor to the RT. The Sport Maxx RT 2 also features runflat technology in certain sizes. The runflat technology features sidewalls that are reinforced and continue to support the vehicle should a puncture occur for vehicles that are designed for this system. I have a MINI Cooper S and these tyres were already fitted to the car when I purchased it, so I chose to stick with them again. For run-flat tyres, the handling is certainly above average. The noise is also acceptable, especially with the convertible roof open. Grip is very important for a MINI and my car is really good in the mountains, like in the Brecons and beyond. I go from Cardiff to Manchester through the Brecons with these tyres all weathers and they really perform. Even with a rogue sheep around the bend, I have no worries!

I had to warranty these tyres because they started splitting all the way around which is disappointing because I liked the look of the tyres and the way they drove the car. They were also very quiet. Their service is great. I was having issues with my last tyre as it had developed a slow puncture so I went back to the shop I bought them from (less than a year ago). They found a nail that was causing the problem. Once the puncture was fixed and the tyre was re inflated, it was evident that the inner side wall was fully cracked, about to blow out. I changed it to a good tyre that I had used previously and would recommend. It's better to go for a big brand tyre; it saves you money in the end.

I'm disappointed by the grip, whether it's dry or wet - it's awful. They appear to wear evenly and still have some tread remaining, and the fuel savings aren't too bad. But because of the grip issues, I will not be purchasing them again.

I originally bought these for the back, but I've changed the front ones to Goodyears as well. They are a huge step up from the Hankooks I used to have. They are better in every single way. They are quieter, have much better performance and grip in wet weather, and they protect the alloy wheels better too. I have to drive to Scotland three times a year and they are perfect on my e92 325i. You get a lot for what you pay for.

These tyres maintain their grip on the road whether it be dry or wet conditions. They're extremely quiet, a lot quieter than my previous set, which is what I wanted to get rid of. They've brought back the pleasure of driving my Audi Q3 again due to the absence of driving noise.

I had previously used F1 Eagle Asymmetric 5 tyres and they were great. This time I went for Dunlops because they were cheaper, big mistake. I'll be sticking with the F1's in the future, as the Dunlops just didn't cut it.
