The Continental ContiSportContact 5 SUV tyre is designed to excel at summer performance with shorter and more efficient stopping distances. As an SUV tyre, the ContiSportContact 5 makes use of its BlackChili compound to assist with the heavier braking forces of taller, heavier vehicles. The use of Conti’s Macroblock design allows the outer edge of the asymmetric tread to be made with large and solid tread blocks to provide cornering support. The tread also utilises 4 circumferential grooves to channel away water from the contact patch.
The SUV focused tyre makes use of a reinforced casing to accommodate the tall and heavy design considerations of the braking and accelerating forces of an SUV. Some iterations of the ContiSportContact 5 also come equipped with ContiSilent which is a foam layer that is adhered to the inside of the tyre that is intended to lower the interior cabin noise by up to 9dB.
