Product description & features

EcoContact 6 is the ecological summer tyre of the range which focuses on low rolling resistance and long life tread. EcoContact 6 uses Green Chili 2.0 compound, which provides lower tread wear. Compound consists of polymer-silica, reducing energy loss on rolling resistance and improving tyre deformation. Asymmetric tread pattern with larger outer blocks provides dry steering, inner blocks are closed with water dispersion grooves.

EcoContact 6 is the upgraded version of EcoContact 5, where Continental says that EcoContact 5 is 15% better in terms of rolling resistance and 20% more durable as far as its tread wear is concerned. There are also types in the EcoContact 6 series that are made for electric cars and hybrids. Electric cars and hybrids affect the contact patch of the tyre owing to their weight and torque. We have EcoContact 6 tyres at Tyres.co.uk.

Highlights

  • Low rolling resistance
  • Longer tread life
  • Asymmetric tread with larger outer blocks

Tyre review for Continental Eco Contact 6 185/55R15 86H XL
Both the front and rear tyres have started to wear down on the outer sides. They were intended to be replacements for the originals fitted by Mercedes when the car was new. Even with the dealer checking the wheel alignment and confirming it was perfect, they said Mercedes has changed to a different brand due to early wear problems. Apparently, the tyre compound is just too soft.
