Product description & features

The Continental EcoContact 5 is a summer touring tyre that intends to limit rolling resistance. This tyre introduces a new tread compound and form that minimises energy loss to heat. The sidewall flexes leading to energy loss too, and to mitigate this, Continental designed the sidewall in conjunction with the new tread compound to limit flexing during turning.

Rolling resistance improves over generations. The EcoContact 5 is now on the third iteration over its predecessor, the ContiEcoContact 3. According to Continental, the EcoContact 5, in its launch form, achieved a 20% decrease in rolling resistance and an increase in tyre life by 12% over the ContiEcoContact 3. Some iterations of the EcoContact 5 also feature ContiSeal, a sealing layer that closes punctures up to 5mm. At this moment, Tyres.co.uk has the Continental EcoContact 5, with and without ContiSeal, in stock.

Tyre review for Continental Eco Contact 5 225/45R17 91V
The moment I changed to the new tyres, the difference in the car's handling was apparent as opposed to the old set, which was due for a change regardless. With the cold and wet weather ahead, the grip and road holding have noticeably improved.

Tyre review for Continental Eco Contact 5 225/45R17 91V
They are soft and therefore make the car feel less precise and more lean in the corners, but they are sticky and give great traction in the rain. I usually choose something sportier, but these were such a great deal!

Tyre review for Continental Eco Contact 5 225/45R17 91V
I'm feeling much more confident with having new tyres replaced onto my car. I can't say anything for sure for how much the new tyres would improve the fuel economy, but my mpg is definitely looking better. My Honda Jazz was fine with the budget tyres, but the drive seems way more solid now.
