165/40 R16 is a unique tyre size designed for modified small cars. 165 is the width in millimetres. 40 is the aspect ratio. Sidewall height in this case is 66mm (40% of 165mm). R16 stands for a 16-inch rim radial tyre. This gives a diameter of 538mm. This tyre has a very short sidewall which is a desired characteristic of some small modified cars to fill the wheel arch.
