Wet braking and resistance to aquaplaning are the main concerns with the Uniroyal RainSport 5. Uniroyal has built this tyre with a directional tread featuring a V shape. Water is channeled by this design from the centre to the outer edge of the tyre. Inside the grooves of the tread, the stall of flow of water and turbulence is handled by the finish of Shark Skin Technology. Edge sipes are integrated in the tread and aid in water removal and provide grip while braking and turning.

The RainSport 5 has replaced the 3 and has an anticipated 15% increase in lifespan. There are also versions which can carry a heavier load; these are the RainSport 5 XL, which have reinforced sidewalls. These tyres should only be used when the temperature is higher than approximately 7 degrees Celsius. Tyres.co.uk also has XL versions.

The newest design of Rainsport 5 is quite remarkable. I find them to be a little quieter than my last set (4) and they perform great on wet roads, and even surprisingly on snow. I assume Uniroyal still holds their high standards, therefore I am very happy.

Great tyres. Previously I had Michelin Pilot Sport 4s, but decided to try something a little more budget friendly, but still performance focused. To be honest, these are almost as good in dry conditions and perhaps even better in the wet. The wet grip is extremely impressive!
