The Nankang FT-9 is a 4x4 off-road tyre specifically designed to provide traction in various off-road, rugged, and uneven terrains, including muddy and rocky tracks. Its tread design is made of large blocks with deep spacing that allows mud or even loose material to be displaced and sit behind the blocks as the wheel is in motion. Additionally, the tyre features a sidewall with reinforcement to protect the outer wall and rim of the tyre, and is built of a lightweight construction to minimise the overall weight of the vehicle.

The Nankang FT-9 is made for all year 4x4 driving where at least part of the driving route is off-road. The deep tread design is made for off-road and severe muddy track driving.
