The Michelin Pilot Sport 5S is a summer tyre that targets the high-performance segment and is specifically designed for the AMG GT. The Pilot Sport 5S utilises an asymmetric tread pattern with large blocks on the outer edge of the tyre and water-clearing grooves on the inner edge. The outer edge of the tyre uses Michelin’s Dynamic Response Technology (DRT), which incorporates a hybrid of aramid and nylon, and is a belt that retains the shape of the tyre as the driver applies load. The inner edge of the tyre incorporates water-clearing grooves that generate a push-pull effect to move water away, while the outer edge provides cornering support.
Some tyres feature the MO1 mark on the sidewall. This mark is the approval mark for Mercedes-Benz and indicates that the tyre was designed and manufactured to meet the specifications of Mercedes-Benz.
