Product description & features

The Alpin 5 is a premium winter tyre from Michelin, built to target winter braking and traction on wet and snowy roads. The directional V-shaped tread design disperses water and slush away from the centre of the tread. A V-shape is created by a central channel and an outer layer of angled groove vis. The block tread is built with 3D self-locking sipes which Michelin call their StabiliGrip technology, and the sipes interlocking walls help to support the tread during cornering. The Alpin 5 is built with a unique silica compound enriched with functional polymer that helps the tread remain flexible during low temperature.

The Alpin 5 replaced the Alpin PA4 in the winter performance range of Michelin. Some derivatives must be fitted to meet original equipment manufacturer requirements, as they are marked N0 and with the BMW star on the sidewall. The Pilot Alpin 5 SUV is the SUV option. Tyres.co.uk sells the Michelin Pilot Alpin 5.

Tyre review for Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 215/55R18 99V XL
These tyres have done an exceptional job all year, considering that in my area, it has snowed and iced a lot and the roads don't get treated or cleared very often. These tyres handled the rural icy and snow covered roads excellently.

Tyre review for Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 215/55R18 99V XL
These tyres greatly differ in how they manage cold and wet conditions. In high-performance summer tyres, these ones are by far better in handling the wet conditions. Despite the road being wet, the car feels stable and does not lose it's grip which by the way, I do not ease up on the speed.

Tyre review for Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 215/55R18 99V XL
I purchased these tyres for my Golf R specifically for winter use, and I wanted a high-performance, winter-snow-weather-friendly option. I limited tested them on some snowy mountain roads and they had superb grip and comfort and low noise levels in a snow, wet, and dry variety of conditions. Initially, I was initially a little cautious about grip in the first couple of hundred kilometres, but it seemed to improve (probably from removing any manufacturing residue). I think these tyres have a very nice attractive design on the sidewall, if that matters to you.
