Tyre review for Michelin CrossClimate 3 215/45R17 91Y XL
Since the middle of January and during the snowy months, I have had to fit new Eagle F1 tyres on my Mini F55 Cooper S, and I had to do it in freezing conditions. I went 10 mm wider, this meant I had to lower the tyre pressure a little. To be fair, the ride did feel a little smoother, but the grip on snow and ice is much better than the summer sport tyres, that could have also been in my imagination. The Peak District was 4 degrees, and I confidently overtook a Nissan GTR who was struggling to keep to the national speed limit, and I had to do it in the middle of January in freezing conditions. With warmer weather, it hasn't been great since they've lost some of the cornering grip the Eagle F1's offered. I know I may be losing some cornering grip in the summer, but I'm not a racing driver, so I will happily trade that to get a lot more mileage out of these cross climate tyres.
