Tyre review for Michelin Agilis Alpin 195/75R16 107R
Alpin winter tyres are an example of a high-quality winter tyre, you certainly get the value for your money with them. After reviewing the German winter tyre tests of various brands and models, I chose Alpin. This is the second set I have purchased for my Carthago Motorhome which I have had since 2016. I use it a great deal and it has now done 150,000 miles in 10 years. I have both summer and winter tyres, with separate rims for each, and I swap them over every six months. Both sets have been Michelin and both have been superb. With the Alpins, I have been right up to the Arctic Circle and done winter Norway, Sweden and Finland to -27 degrees. The grip on icy roads is phenomenal. In the UK I was able to drive up a steep hill from Leeds to the M62 on a dual carriageway where many other vehicles struggled. Not bad for a front wheel drive motorhome! I estimate about 7,000 miles a year on these tyres, although I drive 15,000 a year it is only in winter that I use these. My first set of Alpins lasted for 10 winters which is impressive for how well they cope with icy conditions.
