The Michelin Agilis 51 is one of several summer light-commercial tyres that incorporate the technology of the latest durable construction at Michelin. It currently has the longest tread life in the delivery application. The Agilis 51 uses the Durable Contact Patch technology and has a tread rubber that is more resistant to abrasion and kerb strikes. The Agilis 51 has a reinforced outer sidewall to enhance protection where urban delivery vans incur scuffing and damage.

The Agilis 51 has been reported to achieve a reasonable increase of around 16% in tread life over the tyre it replaces. There are also dual-load index versions of the Agilis 51. One version has a different load rating for each of the 2 wheel positions, namely a single wheel and a twin wheel. The tread on Agilis 51 reduces rolling resistance and improves fuel efficiency. When the weather was dry, these tyres did their job very well, however, I do live on the west coast which means a lot of rain. As soon as the roads were wet I noticed how poorly they handled tight corners compared to my Goodyear tyres. The van was sliding so much I had to slow down to prevent losing control. I had the same slipping problem with the original Continentals that came with the van which is why I moved over to Goodyears. I have to say that the Michelins have disappointed me.

The van feels good driving it with these tyres. I have no issues paying a little more for these as long as they perform as my previous set did, and provide the same longevity. Will pay a little extra for the quality for sure.

All of the front tyres have surpassed 50,000 miles, with no problems. They are very quiet, have even wear, good fuel consumption, excellent wet performance, and grip the road well. Reasonable performance in snow is also provided. The rear (now front) tyres have 60,000 miles, and will need replacing soon, so let's hope the same ones are still available. I am very satisfied with them.

To put it another way, they perform exceptionally well in all weather, including rain. I have never experienced any loss of grip, even slightly. These tyres give me a great sense of security when it comes to driving. On the other hand, however, they are very loud, and tend to make a lot of noise, especially when driving at 48 mph. This is something I can put up with at the moment, but it may become a deal breaker for me if I decide to buy them again. It is clear that the high noise level is due to the tyres.

Completely outstanding performance. Glasgow's weather tests every tyre, especially on a van that weighs close to 3 tonnes. The Agilis 51 trumps all competitors.but I expected nothing less!
