Maxxis Tyres was launched into a world where automotive tyres were already being widely produced, typically by premium brands like Michelin and Pirelli where the emphasis was very much on performance reflected in price. However, the brand, founded in Taiwan, didn’t move into the automotive sector until a few years later. In fact, its production line focussed first on two-wheeler tyres with off-road and road tyres, as well as BMX and hybrid cycle tyres.
Maxxis Tyres was originally called the Cheng Shin Rubber Company before the name was changed. In the years since it was founded in 1967, Maxxis Tyres has become a popular original equipment supplier with connections across the vehicle market – including brands like Ford, Nissan, and Toyota, and bikes from Cannondale, Santa Cruz, and Yeti among other names.
Today, its collection is distributed across 180 countries with operations in Asia, Europe and North America, and tens of thousands of employees. Its tyres include passenger car tyres, 4x4 tyres and SUV tyres, competition tyres and motorsport tyres, and light truck and van tyres – built on a foundation of performance, value for money, and superior tyre technology.
