This model is an SUV-specific model based on the summer performance model of the ContiSportContact 5. The tread pattern of the ContiSportContact 5 SUV incorporates the 3D groove technology, Continental claims, to aid in the reduction of aquaplaning. The use of macro blocks along the tyre shoulder combine with the tyre edge blocks to enhance the grip and overall performance of the tyre during cornering.

The use of the ContiSportContact 5 SUV is optimal in ambient weather conditions over 7 degrees Celsius and in dry conditions. The proprietary Black Chilli compounds that Continental makes, and that are used for the manufacture of the ContiSportContact 5 SUV, are stated by Continental to have a reduction in rolling resistance, enhance the savings in fuel, and minimise the overall CO2 emissions. These tyres are very quiet, regardless of how fast I drive. I just completed a 250 mile trip to Devon and used only a quarter tank of diesel and I heard no noise. They also did exceptionally well in very heavy rain. I'm really glad I picked these tyres.
