The Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 is a winter tyre for passenger vehicles that focuses on preventing sliding while braking on wet pavement and on snow. It uses a high-silica tread that is flexible in low temperatures. Its Nano Pro-Tech distributes small amounts of silica throughout the tyre making it grip wet pavement. The LM005 utilises high density 3D sipes. Goroves sipes run front to back to channel water out of the tyre.

The LM005 is the successor of the Blizzak LM001 in Bridgestone's European winter range. Upon its launch in 2019, Bridgestone called it the first winter tyre to receive the EU wet-grip label of A. Bridgestone also claims that the LM005's V-shaped tread channels water from the centre and along the sides, creating a path for water to evacuate from the tyre. At the moment I have no complaints. I especially appreciate the quietness, and the grip is much improved on the cold, wet and icy, ungritted roads & tracks typical of the Scottish Borders.

Handled brilliantly in the recent snow. Very stable on snowy roads, with a tiny bit of slip for movement. Excellent performance in heavy rain, not a hint of aquaplaning even with plenty of water on the road. Slightly noisy and a bit unsteady initially, but increasing the tyre pressure sorted it out.

Excellent performance in winter conditions both day and night. Good in the wet, though some grip is lost in dry conditions and warmer temperatures with hard revving, but that is to be expected as this is a winter tyre.

These tyres allow us to drive through snow and ice-covered hills safely. On the rare occasions when it snows, we've been able to get our automatic car up the hills and come to a stop without any issues. I chose these Michelin tyres over other winter tyres because they are good in the rain. I've only got a smaller set of spare wheels for them so I use them for about four months in the winter. They also don't feel too soft when the temperature is above 10 degrees, in contrast to other winter tyres that I have tried which tend to feel quite soft when it warm out.

In the dry and wet when it's cold, these tyres usually perform well. I do have my doubts about how any other tyre would have better handled performing poorly, however, on icy surfaces.
