Rolling resistance has a direct impact on fuel consumption. A tyre's rolling resistance score ranges from A to E.
A tyre's wet grip capacity is expressed in Grades from A to E. The difference in braking distances between each grade is roughly 3m - an average car length.
The exterior noise grade of a tyre is expressed in decibels and accompanied by an external rolling noise rating - ranging from A (least exterior noise) to C (highest level of noise).

A reinforced casing and sidewall construction is designed to cope with regular loads, tight turns, and impacts with the kerb. 3 wide circumferential grooves on the tread design help to evacuate water.
The Avon AV12 is the successor to the Avon AV11. In comparison to the Avon AV11, Avon claims that the Avon AV12 improves wet braking by as much as 15%, and rolling resistance improves by up to 9%. These improvements are based on a comparison the company has conducted. The comparison and the mentioned figures are in the context of two Avon commercial tyres and not a cross-brand comparison.
