Since then, Yokohama has opened a number of manufacturing plants and facilities, both in Japan and further afield to meet its global demand. BF Goodrich has also since sold its stake in the company, meaning that ever since 1981 the brand has remained firmly under Japanese ownership.

Where Are Yokohama’s Manufacturing Plants?
Yokohama has factories in Singapore and other areas of Japan, including the Shinshiro Aichi Prefecture and Mishima Shizuoka Prefecture.
In 1969, the brand expanded to launch the Yokohama Tire Corporation in the United States, marking a significant move into the global market. This was expanded even further in 2007 with the launch of Yokohama India.
Some of the notable manufacturing plants include the Salem and West Point factories, in Virginia and Mississippi respectively. The former, in Salem Virginia, tends to focus on passenger tyres and tyres for light trucks. The Mississippi plant is geared towards the production of commercial tyres.
There is also a Yokohama research facility in North Carolina which is responsible for innovation.
Other manufacturing plants and hubs around the world, supporting production of Yokohama tyres, include Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and the areas of Suzhou and Hangzhou in China.
