What to Check on Part Worn Tyres

  • Check the tyre tread level. Remember that the legal minimum limit for tyre tread is 1.6mm. Any part worn tyre purchase should have at least 2mm of tyre tread left, with the recommended tread depth being around 6mm to optimise your purchase
  • Look for cracks, bulges, and any other signs of damage to the tyre sidewall
  • Check the level of tread wear across the entire surface of the tyre. If it looks uneven, then you should steer away from those tyres

Performing these checks will ensure that any part worn tyres you do decide to buy are at least safe to drive on.
