History

Taurus Tyres was founded in Hungary in 1913, with the brand being acquired by Michelin in 1996. Michelin owns a 90% stake in the company, exposing the mid-range tyre manufacturer to leading innovation, research and development, and technology across its range of diverse tyres.

One of the areas that makes Taurus Tyres so different is its bridge into the agricultural vehicle market. Under Taurus Agrotyre, which became its own entity in 1992, Taurus produces quality tyres for tractors and other machinery – navigating the complex needs of different horsepower machinery and changing terrains.

Taurus’s Position on the Tyre Market

Taurus Tyres is a mid-range tyre brand that benefits from its direct connection to leading premium brand, Michelin. Over the years, it has continued to develop its tyre range in line with the changing needs of vehicles and their drivers, specialising in safety and performance in varying climates.

Because Taurus Tyres is a European brand, many of its tyre models are developed with the temperate climate of European countries in mind, putting its all-season and all-terrain tyres on a pedestal above many other more expensive tyre brands.

Some of the technology that Taurus Tyres uses improves handling and the even wear of tyre tread across the surface of the tyre. Reliable traction and wet grip are among the other top attributes of these tyres. Meanwhile the agricultural range of tractor and other machinery tyres are built to carry extremely heavy loads while maintaining a stable sidewall structure and excellent grip - giving drivers access to the right tyres for intensive farm work as well as driving.

Popular Taurus Models and Collections

With the Taurus Tyres collection bridging the passenger car market and the agricultural market, the most popular tyre models vary depending on vehicle and weather conditions,

For regular drivers and passenger cars, the top models include the Taurus Summer3 tyre for commuting and long distance driving, the Taurus HP for high-performance driving with minimal wear, and the Taurus 501 which is a specific winter tyre that offers excellent handling precision.

The agricultural market is propped on a couple of key tyres, including the Taurus Point HP for high-power tractors, and the Taurus Point 65 and Point 70 tyre models which combine robust casing with complex tread patterns that protect the soil while maintaining good traction.

Browsing the Taurus Collection by Season
With Taurus Tyres manufactured in Europe, the brand covers all seasons with a range of specifically engineered tyres and more versatile all-season options - all of which cover different speed ratings and load index ratings. The all-season tyre range is particularly popular with UK drivers, with the temperate local climate alleviating the need for tyres that navigate extreme conditions and surfaces. Having said that, drivers across the UK can also opt for the specifics of winter tyres and summer tyres, optimising performance throughout the year.

The all-season collection from Taurus Tyres includes the Taurus All Season, complete with its modern tread design that grips wet and dry surfaces, and is strong enough to navigate ice and even snow. For off-road driving and navigating different terrains, the Taurus All Seasons SUV is the ideal option, ensuring safety and durability.

The Taurus HP and Taurus UHP tyres support ultra high-performance and high-speed driving in the summer, with unique tread designs that optimise cornering and handling, while navigating dry and wet road surfaces. Other summer models from Taurus include the Taurus Touring tyres and the Summer3 tyres, both of which have an extra strong rubber compound to maintain a reliable structure. For SUVs and 4x4s, the Taurus 701 and Taurus Summer3 SUV are reliable choices.

The Taurus winter tyres range covers ice and snow-friendly tyre tread patterns, from the Taurus Ice tyres to the Taurus 501 tyres and Taurus 601 tyres. For off-road driving, the Taurus SUV ICE offers the best traction for braking and accelerating, while the Taurus SUV Winter is a good all-rounder as soon as the temperature drops and rolling resistance becomes crucial.
