History

The Otani Tyres story starts well before 1986. The concept and company which became Otani Tyres was first launched by Dr. Kiatichai in the form of a small retail store selling his own range of tyres. Dr Kiatichai spent years developing a series of tyre solutions, including a retread factory to breathe life back into worn tyres, before launching the Otani Tyre brand in 1986.

Otani Tyres began to be exported in 1987, with original equipment supply to the Kubota Corporation expanding the brand’s profile in 2002. In the years since, Otani Tyres has continued to increase its range of both industrial and automotive tyres, with 2017 marking the launch of Otani’s first passenger car tyres.

Throughout its varied history, Otani Tyres has continually leaned on innovation and comprehensive tyre testing to produce tyres which are durable and robust, but which are also engineered for high performance in different conditions.

Otani’s Position on the Tyre Market

Otani, while not one of the more well-known brands like Michelin or Continental, is a reputable supplier of quality tyres which withstand the test of time, varied applications, and high performance standards.

Because it started life as a commercial and industrial tyre manufacturer, Otani Tyres’ strongest reputation sits within that market. However, since the launch of passenger car tyres in 2017, Otani has built a good name in the market for brand new and retread tyres, optimising the lifespan and continued performance of both road tyres and off-road tyres.

Research and development plays a big part in the expansion of Otani Tyres, with tailormade tread designs used across its range to ensure that every tyre is suitable for its climate, vehicle type, and terrain. Once tyres are produced, it’s worth noting that they undergo an extensive testing process, inspecting the tread and exterior as well as the interior structure of each tyre.

Having tyres which are designed to be retreadable, extending their lifespan and ensuring optimum safety across various road surfaces, is a major accolade in the Otani Tyres vision and is what makes this brand so popular with those seeking quality and value.

Popular Otani Models and Collections

With Otani Tyres an active brand in both the passenger car and industrial markets, the popular models vary from driver to driver.

Low rolling resistance and increased fuel efficiency are both integral priorities for the Otani brand, with the Otani KN1000 tyre a reputable option for everyday driving, while the Otani OH-102 tyres are built for long haul large vehicle drives.

As Otani has continued to expand its range, the passenger car market has grown to encompass season-specific tyres and ultra-high performance tyres. Models like the Otani BM1000 are dedicated sports tyres with excellent handling and cornering, while the Otani SA1000 and Otani SA2000 tyres are built for off-road traction on 4x4 vehicles and SUVs through different climates.

Browsing the Otani Tyres Catalogue by Season
With Otani Tyres such a high profile brand in the commercial sector as well as the standard car and high-performance tyre markets, one of the easiest ways to filter tyres and identify their core features and attributes is by season. UK drivers have the choice of relying on all-season tyres throughout the year or choosing seasonal tyres for an enhanced driving experience through different conditions.

Most of the all-season tyres from Otani are designed with specialised tread patterns, which balance the vehicle and ensure good traction through wet and dry conditions, as well as challenging winter conditions. Models like the Otani EK1000 tyres and Otani KC2000 tyres are engineered for year-round use with strong sidewalls and high-grip traction. For industrial driving, the Otani OH range supports regional driving in all conditions with even tread and a versatile compound design.

The summer tyre range from Otani balanced dry and wet grip with ease. These tyres do not lose their structure or stability in high temperatures and are reliable both on- and off-road – depending on the model you choose. The BM2000 is a high-performance sports tyre for summer, while models like the MK3000 are ideal for trailers and small trucks.

The winter tyre range is designed to navigate the most challenging conditions. These tyres boast chunky tread patterns and thick grooves, with reinforced and pliable rubber compounds that facilitate high levels of flexibility. The Otani range of winter tyres are all studless, with popular models including the Otani WE1000 passenger car winter tyre, the UHP WK1000 tyre, and the Otani WM1000 for light trucks and vans.

Choosing the Best Tyres from the Otani Range

Otani Tyres started life as an industrial tyre brand, before expanding into the passenger car market over time. Over the past couple of decades, the collection has broadened to encompass different tyre sizes and tyre types, as well as investment in new and innovative tread patterns and compounds to suit different conditions.

For drivers seeking reliable tyres with a premium tread design, Otani Tyres combines value with the ability to retread – extending the lifespan of every tyre tenfold. The retread capability enhances the durability of each radial tyre in the Otani collection, enabling drivers to stay on the road without the need for new tyres.
